Espresso Capsules: New Way Of Making Coffee

Brewed under intense pressure and created by forcing hot water through very finely ground beans until a concentrated, espresso is one of the most loved forms of coffee these days. It is invented in Italy in 1901 and is essentially a strong and concentrated black coffee with delicate, chocolate-colored foam, called crema, on top of it. IT has become so popular that different varieties were eventually invented including the much loved espresso capsules.

Cafe-espresso is a coffee term used to refer to the coffee made to order expressly for the person ordering it which usually takes five minutes or more. This usually takes longer than five minutes as the coffee needs to be brewed properly in order to have that distinct coffee taste. The longer waiting time led to want and need of people for a faster and more convenient way of coffee preparation. Thus, in 1901, around 100 years age, Italian inventor Luigi Bezzera introduced and patented the espresso machine which employed steam pressure to force water through ground coffee held in clamp-able filters and started the espresso craze.

“Fast coffee machine” was the original name given to the espresso machine. It was however changed to “espresso machine” after some time which is an Italian term which literally means “fast machine”. It was mass produced and introduced to the market by Desiderio Pavoni’s company in 1905 when the patent of said machine was transferred to his name. The espresso machines then produced was based solely on Bezzera’s invention and was distributed outside of Italy which increased the awareness and popularity of espresso around the world. Further improvements were made on the device later on in order to cater to the growing and changing needs of coffee drinkers.

Espresso capsules are generally paper pouches filled with fine-ground coffee. These forms of espresso allow users without barista skills to get excellent cups of espresso as coffee is already pre-ground and pre-measured. As such, an expensive grinder as well as a barista skill is no longer necessary to prepare a cup of espresso. Instead, the capsule is simply placed into the machine, and voila, espresso is ready. These forms of coffee are also often employed in restaurants to allow them to serve their customers with espresso drinks without the need of trained baristas.

The ease of use of espresso capsules make them more expensive than other regular forms of espresso. Some capsules are also packed in order to be prepares using only a specific coffee machine which means that other than the capsule the machine should also be bought. Some coffee drinkers also do not recommend such forms as they say that that the very best espresso can only and still be made by the skilled hands of a trained and experienced barista.

Espresso has definitely gone a long way from its simple beginnings in Italy. From being exclusive to Italians, sit can now be found in every nook and cranny around the world and can be enjoyed in restaurants and homes anytime and anywhere with the use of espresso machines and espresso capsules.

John Lucas is the CEO of a large pharmaceutical company in Grand Prairie, Texas. As his job often requires him to stay in the office for long hours, Mr. Lucas no longer has time to visit a coffee shop to enjoy his cup of espresso. As such, he just employs espresso kapseln (German term for “espresso capsules”) to prepare a great cup of his favorite drink.
