Skipping Bad Coffee Is A Good Idea

Your cup of coffee is likely pretty important to you. Whether it’s your morning cup or your lunchtime pick-me-up, that cup of coffee and its quality is a big deal. The odds are overwhelmingly good that you have had more than your fair share of bad coffee over the years and that is just a shame. Coffee is one of the best simple pleasures that life has to offer. When coffee is done right, it is a real thing of beauty that can brighten up every day. For just a moment, contemplate a great cup of coffee that you have had recently and then contemplate a bad cup of coffee. If you can’t remember the good cup of coffee, then you know you are in deep trouble.

Often many of us settle for inferior products when with a little more effort, we could get something better and brighten our day in the process. Coffee is a great example of how we often compromise too easily. The difference between a great cup of coffee and a truly lousy cup of coffee may only be a few minutes drive or a slightly longer walk. By consistently choosing to go buy the poor quality coffee because it is easier or closer, we are cheating ourselves out of having a better experience in life. Unfortunately, it also means that we are helping a purveyor of inferior coffee stay in business and perhaps even thrive. This is the last thing we want, as the end result could be lower standards everywhere.

There are plenty of reasons that you shouldn’t accept that substandard cup of coffee when other options are available. Consider this for a moment; if you buy inferior coffee from a large national coffee producing mega-machine, you are most definitely sending a message that you are willing to accept an inferior product. Most manufacturers will provide their customers with the lowest quality product that they are willing to accept. The coffee industry, of course, does not escape this simple axiom. If you buy a bad cup of Joe, you are sending a message, even if you don’t quite realize it.

Most people will agree that its probably worth spending a couple of extra minutes driving or walking to get a better cup of coffee when they can. Coffee, when done correctly, is a pretty wonderful thing. This means you are going to be better off finding the superior cup. Most often that superior cup of coffee is coming from a local coffee shop that is far more enthusiastic about getting your business than a national chain based hundred of even thousands of miles away.

By supporting your local coffee shop, you are also taking a step to support your local business and your local community. While it may seem like a trivial decision, those cups of coffee and other small purchases can really add up over the course of a year. Those small purchases can mean jobs. That can in turn amount to less crime and a higher standard of living for your entire community. Where you purchase your coffee can have an impact in ways that you might not even suspect. A great cup of coffee is one way you can easily improve your day and maybe even increase your overall productivity. Why not make a little extra effort to get the best cup of Joe that is out there? You’ll be glad you did!
