Aladdin Mugs
There are a lot of desperate people out there trying to find Aladdin mugs. There’s also a lot of confusion about what people are actually looking for. This comes about because the mugs currently made under the Aladdin brand name are not the same mugs people know and love from years ago. That design is actually made by another company now under another name. Here’s the story and how to find the one you’re looking for.
Back in the day, Aladdin mugs made large travel mugs that people loved because they were insulated well, did not spill, fit into car cup holders nicely, and you could get all your fingers through the handle. People typically found them for sale at roadside gas stations or novelty shops. They were popular with these businesses because the mugs were inexpensive and they could get their logos printed on them.
As a company, Aladdin choose to go a different direction with their mugs and sold this older design to a company called Thermo-Serv. Thermo-Serv continues to make the classic design and are available for ordering online. They make all the sizes people remember, the most popular of which is the 20oz version, but they also have 12oz, 16oz, 34oz, and even 54oz sizes available. Super big gulp, anyone?
Today the Aladdin mugs you find are a much different design. They’ve taken the company in a direction that focuses a little more on aesthetics and environmental friendliness. In a way, you could say they’ve both moved on from their legacy and improved at the same time. When you look at Aladdin’s current offerings you can see some of the design elements that made their original mugs so popular, plus some updates that make them more contemporary.
The current lineup of Aladdin mugs has maintained a high level of popularity and customer satisfaction because they knew which design elements to keep and expand upon. Certain models of their mugs still have large, easy to grip handles and the lids and closures are as secure as ever. If you want plain designs they have those, but you can also get designs and patterns.
They seem to have dropped the expanded foam insulation, likely for environmental reasons. They have also moved towards BPA free plastics on their food contact surfaces to address the concerns expressed by many in society. Aladdin even has a line of mugs that are made completely from recycled materials and are themselves recyclable.
One of the areas they also excelled in was the lunch box that included an insulated bottle and had popular characters on the box. They seem to have moved away from that original concept, but do continue to make BPA free insulated bottles made for hot foods like soup or can even keep liquids cold. It’s a great choice if you’re going to send milk to school with your kids.
